The board seemed to put one of the veteran player on the backburner, the veteran opener Shikhar Dhawan. He didn’t became the part of the team from the last T20I match that he played against Sri Lanka in June last year.

While Dhawan being showing his impressive performance in the IPL and have been maintaining good strike rate he didn’t get the opportunity to be the part of the team in the five match series against South Africa and was not selected for the upcoming two match series against Ireland.

Gavaskar was questioned if he sees Dhawan’s name in the 2022 T20 World Cup discussion, he replied “No I don’t see that. If it had to pop up it would have been in the squad.”
