Somerset batted first in the 1st innings and put up a total of 337 runs in 116 overs. Mark Renshaw played a handy innings of 48 runs for them and was well complimented by his skipper Tom Abell who scored a blistering 150 runs in 298 balls with 22 fours. Tom helped his side reach 337 runs. In return, Surrey couldn’t get the first innings lead and got out on 308 runs. Ollie Pope’s 47, Ben Foakes 63 runs and Sam Curran 80 helped Surrey reach 308 runs. Peter Siddle was the pick of the bowlers for Somerset as he got wickets and bowled brilliantly throughout.

SOMERSET VS SURREY 2022: Surrey beat Somerset by 3 wickets



Somerset came again to bat with a lead of 29 runs but couldn’t capitalize on their lead and got out on a low score of 239 runs and set a target of 239 runs for Surrey to win their second match of the season. Tom Abell showed guts and scored a brilliant half century in second innings for Somerset before Jordan Clarke ripped through Somerset’s batting line up. He took 4 wickets in his 21.2 overs and gave away 52 runs.

Surrey came out to bat chasing 239 runs. Rory Burns got out early on 17 runs. But their second opener Riyan Patel stuck to the wicket, played the difficult overs and scored a brilliant century in 4th innings of the match and made sure that he gets Surrey over the line. Riyan was well complimented by Ben Foakes and Sam Curran to reach 239 runs and win it for their domestic team. Jack Brooks was the pick of the bowlers for Somerset as he took 4 wickets in 18.5 overs but that wasn’t enough for his team as Surrey was able to win the match with ease and comfort.
