International Cricket: Rohit Sharma - The Hitman of Cricketing World

International Cricket: Rohit Sharma is the only cricketer to score three double tons in the history of ODI Cricket so far. The players other than him who have scored double centuries are Sachin Tendulkar [unbeaten 200 runs], Virender Sehwag [219 runs], Fakhar Zaman [210 runs], Chris Gayle [215 runs], and Martin Guptil [237 runs].

Rohit Sharma is also the only cricketer to win the Indian Premier League title both as a player and as a captain. He started his IPL career with the Deccan Chargers side and played for them for three consecutive seasons.

In 2009, Deccan Chargers lifted the title beating Royal Challenger Bangalore by six runs which was played at Johannesburg, South Africa. In that season Rohit took a hattrick against Mumbai Indians, the team which he later on went to be a part of. On October 25, 2012, The Sun TV Network won the bid for the Hyderabad franchise and the new name which was given to the franchise was Sunrisers Hyderabad.

In 2011, Rohit joined Mumbai Indians as a player. In the middle of the 2013 Indian Premier League edition, Ricky Ponting stepped down from the captaincy and Rohit Sharma took the charge and took the Mumbai side to their maiden IPL title when they defeated Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.


After taking their first title in 2013, Rohit Sharma went on to win four more IPL crowns in 2015, 2017, 2019, and successfully defended it in 2020 and became the second team after Chennai Super Kings [2010 and 2011] to do the same.

Recently, after a bad performance of the team in the ICC T-20 World Cup which took place at United Arab Emirates in 2021 and not able to concentrate on his batting, Virat Kohli stepped down from captaincy in all formats of Cricket and handed over to Rohit Sharma.
