MS Dhoni was playing his 350th T-20 game and in that game he inflicted a flying runout of Bhanuka Rajapaksha just like Johnty Rhodes did during his times when he used to play. A mix-up between Rajapaksha and Shikar Dhawan resulted in a brilliant runout by a 40-year-old wicketkeeper.

Dhoni is one of the favourite and most loved cricketers not only in India but also around the world. He once again won the hearts of cricket lovers and commentators in the match played between CSK and PBKS when the former Indian skipper signaled the umpire about his catch that was not taken clearly.

Grabbing a Wicket

In the eight over Dwaine Pretorius bowled a length ball down the leg stump to Liam Livingstone. He tried to glance it to Fine Leg but got a thick outside edge but Dhoni shuffled and made a full length dive to grab the ball with both hands. The legendary wicket keeper was not sure whether the catch was clear or not so he urged the square leg umpire to refer upstairs to confirm.


The video replay showed that while Dhoni grabbed the ball, it got stuck in the fingertips of his gloves and it touched the ground after the completion of Dhoni’s dive. Livingstone then went on to score a crucial 60 runs from just 32 balls with five fours and five sixes. English batter’s this innings helped his side Punjab Kings to reach a respectable total of 180 runs and set a respectable total of 181 runs for the one of the successful sides of Indian Premier League Chennai Super Kings.

Even though Dhoni failed to complete the dismissal, he won hearts of fans on Twitter and in the commentary box as former New Zealand cricketer Simon Doull was heard hailing the former CSK captain for his “honesty”.


Earlier in the game, Dhoni did a brilliant runout of Rajapaksha in the second over of the match. He showed incredible athleticism and quick reflexes during this runout. Dhoni ran in fast to collect Chris Jordan's throw and dislodged the bail with an under-arm effort from a distance.

MS Dhoni was playing his milestone game, 350th match in the T-20I cricket, against Punjab Kings at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday, April 3, 2022. He became only the second Indian cricketer to join the elite list after Rohit Sharma and 19th overall.
