Yorkshire won the toss and they chose to bat first. They played fairly well on Day 1 as they were 324- 5 after 96 overs on day 1 of the match. Thanks to George Hill and Harry Brook who played well for the Yorkshire. Adam Lyth and Hill started the innings for Yorkshire. Adam Lyth couldn’t continue for long as he got departed on 19 runs in 73 balls. His partner George Hill played a gem of an Innings as he scored a brilliant century and put Yorkshire in a strong position.
Hill played well as he scored 131 runs in 257 balls with 21 fours and 2 sixes. He was well supported by Harry Brook as he made 76 runs in 95 balls with 10 fours and a six. Matthew Waite came to bat and played watchfully as he scored 38 runs in 74 balls with 6 fours. He is still batting on 38 with England’s international spinner Tom Bess.

Holland were the pick of the bowlers for Hampshire as he took 2 wickets in 18 overs. He bowled economically well as he bowled 8 maidens and gave away 46 runs.
