Cricket: Virat Kohli a successful right handed batsman and the former skipper of team India was born on 5th November 1988 in New Delhi, India. He is considered to be one of the best batsman of the present era in the Limited over matches. He was called as Chiku from the time when he played for the state team his team coach gave him this name during Ranji trophy. He was also given the name as “GOAT” which means Greatest Of All Time. In the year 2018 Time magazine named him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world and was also ranked on the top 100 highest paid athletes in the world for the year 2020.

He started his journey of cricket when he was 9 years old after joining the West Delhi Cricket Academy. He was trained under Rajkumar Sharma and also played matches at the same time from Sumeet Dogra academy and Vasundhara Enclave. In the year 2002 for the first time Kohli played for the U-15 Delhi team in the Polly Umrigar Trophy, he also became the captain of the team in the year 2002-03 in the same tournament.



In 2004 he was selected for the U-17 Delhi team and later on in the year 2006 he was selected for the List A debut for Delhi. He made his first class debut against Tamil Nadu where his performance was not seen after which in the second match against Karnataka he came up with a score of 90 in all total of 257 runs in 6 matches.

Kohli was selected for the India U-19 squad on the tour of England in the year 2006 where he scored 105 in three match ODI series and 49 in the three match test series. In April 2007 he got a chance in the T20 debut and got the title of highest run getter in the team with the score of 179 at an average of 35.80. He got the chance to get into the ODI squad for the tour of Sri Lanka in the year 2008 and the champions trophy in Pakistan. Kohli played as a opener in the Sri Lanka tour since both the openers were injured at that time, team India won the series as 3-2 against Sri Lanka. Kohli showed some of his exclusive performance in the future years and made many records.

He became the Fastest batsman to reach 10000 ODI runs in just 205 innings breaking the record of the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar of 259 innings. He also completed the record of making it in 10 years and 68 days breaking the record of Rahul David of 10 years and 317 days. He was the first batsman to hit three consecutive centuries against two separate opponents which was Sri Lanka and West Indies. Being the captain of RCB in IPL he also made the record of highest run getter with 6402 runs in 215 matches.
