International Cricket: Aaron Finch - Limited overs skipper for Australian Cricket Team - Aaron James Finch is an Australian cricketer who captains the team in the limited overs format known by the name Aaron Finch with the jersey number 5. He is a right handed batsman with slow left arm orthodox bowling style. He acts as an opener in the Australian team. He was born on 17th November 1986 in Colac situated in Victoria (Australia). He is seen to be one of the most destructive batsman because of his performance against Zimbabwe in July 2018 where he scored 172 in Twenty20 international match creating the new record after surpassing the previous record of 156 made against England in the year 2013. He also became the first player to reach 900 rating points as rated by the official International Cricket Council in T20 rankings.

Having great interest in the field of cricket, he started playing cricket from the younger age he got the opportunity to represent the Colac West Cricket Club in the Colac & District Cricket Association as a Wicketkeeper batsman. His eye catching performance helped him to play the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. His domestic career continued from the Victorian side in the year 2009/10.

During a match against Tasmania at Melbourne Cricket Ground where he made his first class maiden century. Again in the year 2012 being as a captain he scored 154 runs against Queensland creating the new highest score for Victoria in Domestic one day cricket.

He also played the Big Bash cricket league from the Melbourne Renegades in the season 11 of Big Bash league where he became the Player of the Year, he also became the first player to score 1000 runs in the Big Bash League. On the other hand he played County Cricket starting with Yorkshire Cricket Club in the year 2014 and after 2 years joined the Surrey from 2016 where he scored 131 not out for Surrey.


Finch made his first international debut for Australia in the year 2011 against England in a T20 match. He had set the record for the highest individual to score 156 runs in 63 balls during a match against England in the year 2013. He got the chance to play in the 2015 World Cup where he made the top score of 135 leading to the victory of Australia with 111 run.




He became the captain of the team in the year 2019. In the year 2020 he was named as the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Decade. He has made altogether of 19 centuries in International Cricket out of which 17 are in One Day International and 2 are in Twenty20 International.

Finch was also the part of Indian Premier League started from the team of Rajasthan Royals in 2010 after which he played for Delhi Daredevils. He had played for Pune Warriors, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians for consecutive 3 years after which he joined the team of Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction. He then played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the year 2020 and now he is playing the Kolkata Knight Riders team as a replacement for Alex Hales.
